Chris Marley Civils Limited, established July 2005.

Through his years of experience, Chris became aware of the need within the industry to provide a full package of management and construction services within one unit. Having worked with a wide variety of Contractors, Sub Contractors and Major Clients in his career, Chris became increasingly aware that a high rate professional quality service within the industry today requires thorough understanding of both Client and Contractor needs. Chris had been considering establishing his own company for several years and discussions with a variety of experienced people within the industry assisted his decision to launch Chris Marley Civils Limited. The acquisition of appropriate plant and equipment substantiated the companys launch into several high profile contracts within the construction industry. Chris has had extensive experience on the operation and supervision of micro tunnelling and pipejacking contracts as well as traditional segmental tunnels and timber headings. He has a wide experience of shaft sinking using various methods, open-cut pipelaying at various depths and construction of reinforced concrete structures and pumping stations. He has experience of various piling techniques and has used sheet piling as both temporary and permanent works. He has also had experience of working in joint venture with multi disciplinary partners. Professional Experience July 2005 Chris Marley Civils Limited Chris Marley Civils Limited was launched in July 2005. Nov. 2003 - June 2005 Peter Duffy Limited He was employed as Contracts Manager, carrying out management of various drainage and flood alleviation contracts across Yorkshire with a combined total value of £6.5 million. These contracts generally involved the construction of underground stormwater storage in the form of shafts or large pipelines and culverts combined with new CSO structures. His duties in this role were concerned primarily with meeting the clients programme and budget requirements and ensuring the sites complied with the relevant safety and environmental legislation. May 2002 Oct. 2003 Barhale Construction Plc He was employed as Project Manager on two major tunnelling contracts in North London for Thames Water. His role on both contracts included coordination of the design and all aspects of the construction works. The Welwyn Garden Southern Outfall contract involved the construction of 4.5km of new sewer installed using Iseki micro tunnelling machines at depths of up to 25m in Chalk strata. The Hoddesdon Transfer Main was a joint venture scheme with Subterra and Murphy Pipelines to construct a 10.5km long pumped sewage main from Enfield to a treatment works at Hoddesdon. Barhales section of the work was to carry out 10 no. micro tunnelled crossings of rail, roads and canals on the route of the pipeline as well as installation of the pumped main through an existing tunnel beneath the M25. July 1989 May 2002 Byzak Contractors Ltd (formerly Kennedy Construction) Following completion of his formal education he was primarily site based and involved chiefly with the tunnelling sector of the water industry at various levels of responsibility. Initially his duties involved setting out and surveying, measurement and liaison with sub-contractors. He progressed to holding the Site Agents position on a mechanised tunnelling contract in Swansea. He was further promoted to the Section Agents post on a £36 million tunnel project in South Wales. On this particular contract he was responsible for the day to day management of 6.5km of mechanised pipejack constructed using two Herrenknecht AVN machines together with shaft lining and conversion of 21 no. shafts at depths up to 25m. Most recently he was Construction Manager on a £10.5 million contract in Cardiff that involved the construction of two reinforced concrete pumping stations to divert the main sewers into the newly constructed Cardiff WWTW. |
